Uber is taking its move of going further into electric vehicles. Its AI assistant will be in place for helping such transition into electric vehicles. The ride-hailing service will roll out the assistant for its drivers starting early 2025, primarily in the United States. The AI assistant will be an open AI-based GPT-4 model; it will enable easy access to information regarding electric vehicles for its drivers.

Uber to launch AI Assistant for EV Drivers
For instance, the AI assistant will cover all the questions EV-related a driver should know, such as where charging stations are located or which EV model suits one’s needs. Gradually, she is expected to expand her scope. Under the umbrella of the Uber driver app, the AI chatbot should constantly update and personalize the responses with the location, preferences, and available incentives that the driver follows.
Uber is also working on voice interactions, which will enable drivers to interact directly with the assistant so that responses would come through audibly. There are no confirmed languages it would support yet, although more than 50 languages are supported by the GPT-4 technology, and the company would share further information closer to launch.

EV Mentorship Program
Besides the AI assistant, Uber will introduce an “EV Mentorship Program,” which will incentivize high-rated drivers already using EVs. The rewards for good experienced drivers will include cash incentives and other perks in exchange for mentoring others interested in moving to EVs. They share their first-person experiences about the ownership and usage of EVs.

Expanded EV Features and Climate Initiatives
Uber’s AI assistant has landed, following a number of far-reaching efforts by the company at self-driving sustainability-on display at its Go-Get event in London just last week. The go-show cited plenty of climate initiatives with product features unveiled to increase adoption among both drivers and riders.
Uber’s Uber Green service, available in more than 180 markets, has long enabled riders to choose between hybrid or electric vehicles. This week, it took the push for EVs one step further by announcing an option in 40 cities, from New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco, to Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Paris, and Auckland. Riders can also set their app preferences to prioritize matching with nearby EVs when these are available.
The successive partnership between Uber and OpenAI is a testament to the integration of AI with green technology by proving the way forward toward a cleaner transport future.
