Samsung teases XR hardware for 2025 – we think it’ll be AR glasses, and here’s why

According to its 2025 product outlook, Samsung hints that its long-awaited XR, or Extended Reality, device will make its way onto the global market next year. This is unlike the long-promised, much-expected VR/AR headset, which is possibly a pair of AR or augmented reality glasses. Here’sHere’s why this could be so.

Moving from XR Headset to AR Glasses

Samsung may be working on a VR/AR headset like Meta’sMeta’s Quest 3 or Apple’sApple’s Vision Pro. However, as excitement followed by criticism plagued the Vision Pro, one would hope Samsung has reconsidered its approach and instead introduced less immersive but very user-friendly AR glasses.

This is furthered by statements from Qualcomm’sQualcomm’s new CEO, Cristiano Amon, who is in a partnership with Samsung for this particular device. Amon alluded to the possibility that the new Samsung device might just change the way one views their phones—as one that would go well with AR glasses. Even though Amon didn’tdidn’t say it outright was AR glasses, it wasn’twasn’t hard to interpret the suggestion.

Also, the emergence of smart glasses such as Ray-Ban Meta specs is on the increase. Given that wearable technology is moving towards being lighter and more casual, the Samsung AR glasses would just fit into the trend.

Why AR Glasses Fit into Samsung’sSamsung’s Business

Since Xreal Air 2 glasses, among other smart glasses, are coupled to phones to enhance the user experience, Samsung AR glasses are also likely to be better than Samsung smartphone users.

What We’dWe’d Love to See in Samsung’sSamsung’s AR Glasses

If Samsung launches the AR glasses in 2025, here’shere’s what will make the experience the best:

Wireless design with a built-in battery.

These will be different from the wired Xreal glasses since they will depend solely on connectivity for power. The Samsung version might be better with an internal battery so that the user can enjoy AR without using up his phone’sphone’s battery so quickly.

4K Display Resolution

With Samsung’sSamsung’s display prowess, 4K resolution would be a huge plus. Most smart glasses have only full HD resolution; with this, Samsung can offer experiences that are more immersive and of better quality than their competitors’competitors’ smart glasses are offering, which is also what the brand is about with displays.

Increased interactivity

Samsung’s AR glasses would be packed with interactive features, such as hand-tracking or gesture control, to make them useful tools rather than just tech demos. Adding unique AR apps or adapting software would make the product more than a cool novelty.

Samsung’sSamsung’s AR glasses can be the only competition for devices like Apple’sApple’s Vision Pro. High display quality, interactive features, and seamless integration with smartphones define Samsung’sSamsung’s AR glasses—a game changer in the XR space. They are the next in AR from Samsung, touching nearly 20.
