This new feature enables users to find parking around destinations and book spots by tapping on the “Book Online” button within both Google Maps and Google Search. This click takes users to the SpotHero website where they can finalize their booking without needing to leave either the apps. Users are also allowed to reserve parking in advance, filtering for amenities such as electric vehicle charging stations, wheelchair accessible, and valet.

This development would mark a great accomplishment for SpotHero as Google does not provide a parking reservation tool, although Google Maps has partnered with other services such as ParkMobile in the past that allow users to pay for parking directly from the app.

Reporting approaching $1.5 billion in parking reservations sold, SpotHero boasts a clientele of over 10 million drivers across North America. The company has also teamed up with Apple Maps this year, enhancing its parking solutions to iPhone and Mac users.

Google has always added newer features to its applications. Most recently, it updated Google Maps so that the user now receives information regarding destinations as one gets closer to the destination, and at such times, Google directs the user to available parking options near or within buildings.
