iPhone 17 rumors — everything we know so far

Even though the iPhone 16 has just been released, the buzz for Apple’s next big launch is already being hyped for the iPhone 17. Expected in September 2025, early speculations suggest exciting upgrades and possibly new additions to the lineup, which would explain all the interest in what is in store for Apple from now on.

iPhone 17: Expected Release Date and Pricing

Apple always announces new iPhone model releases in September unless circumstances like COVID-19 delay the release of the iPhone 12. It is also very probable that Apple will unveil the iPhone 17 in September 2025 because it usually follows this cycle.

In terms of pricing, Apple retained the prices from the iPhone 16 range with no hikes. Pricing started at $799, while the Pro Max hit a price tag of as high as $1,199. However, should this upgrade materialize in its pure form, perhaps it might make the last cost more expensive. Anyway, another version appears to be an iPhone 17 Slim with a pretty steep price that would most likely top $1,199, as was the one on the Pro Max.

Introducing the iPhone 17 Slim

Among the interesting rumors is the iPhone 17 Slim, which will be a new ultra-slim edition of the iPhone. Most likely, it will take the place that a Plus model has already occupied. “The company will also unleash an extremely light, thin iPhone to create something probably among the lightest and thinnest phones out there,” comments Mark Gurman, a known industry insider. The Slim is said to sport a 6.6-inch display, along with a form factor that is more or less a reiteration of the legendary iPhone X that did away with the Home button and brought in the notch back in 2018. However, reports suggest it could have an aluminum body rather than the premium titanium used in the last models, which is a matter of concern given the fact that it’s expected to be pricier.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed that this thinness might make Apple settle for a single main camera on the Slim, an astonishing step for a flagship device. The Slim may also be one of the first iPhone models to use an Apple-designed modem.

An iPhone 17 Lineup Without a Plus Model?

The news is that the iPhone 17 range could see the demise of the Plus model to accommodate the Slim version. Analyst Jeff Pu feels that although the iPhone 16 Plus has received excellent reviews, its sales are not much better than those of the discontinued iPhone mini.

With almost a year left until the launch of iPhone 17, much remains unknown about the tech giant’s plans. However, pre-release details are generating hype, mainly about a new Slim variant and other improvements that will make the 2025 iPhone an important Apple product.
